What I have Learned
I have learned many things in my time on the internet this past summer. For instance, if you blog about popular things, like Twilight, you will get more views. The more recent a post is, the more views it will get. A lot of those things have to do with getting views and attention. Is that what I want? Do I really want attention? I don’t know.
I also joined a Harry Potter and Twilight role playing games. I get sad when no one has responded to my posts in a while. Is that because I want attention? Why do we do the things we do? Are we all longing for something? The problem is I don’t know what I want.
Just something for thought.

Hydrogen Fuel Cells and the Environment
So I am not normally a “Let’s go green and safe the world!” kind of person, but honestly, a car who’s exhaust pipe is more humid than Florida is pretty cool! So if you didn’t get that I’ll explain a hydrogen fuel cell.
The fuel cell I the catalyst for the chemical reaction that bonds oxygen to hydrogen to make water. The release of energy caused by the exothermic reaction is collected and then used to power the car. Then the steam left over is sent out the exhaust pipe. Simple right? Yeah, I guess so.
But then, I think, what are other things that might happen to the environment because of all of that water displacement. Obviously, the only way to produce that much hydrogen is to separate it from water in the first place. If we are creating water, we must destroy it too, other wise mount Everest will be as tropical as Hawaii in no time.
Then it got me to thinking, logically we won’t produce more hydrogen than we need right? That might be true, but even if we do, think of all of the water that will be displaced by all of the cars. Highways will always be wet, and during the winter, completely glossed over in ice! Also, what about places that don’t get much natural moisture, how will we be affecting them. I live in the desert and with a major highway running just a few miles away, I’ll wake up to an early morning fog, everyday…. In the desert!
Honestly, highways will have flora along them like rivers do. It’ll be pretty interesting to see but how will introducing all of that water from parts of the world that need to to parts of the world that don’t? Although because the only product of the car is distilled water, we could solve the world thirst problem by having power stations running off of hydrogen, but then how effective would that be?
First off the energy required to split hydrogen and oxygen is not efficient. We need to come up with a very cost effective way to do this other wise we will just dig ourselves deeper into the whole energy crisis issue. I’m going to write a story to expose this in better detail.
So my dad brought up a good point: if they did expel a large volume of water that would harm the environment, they could just design a holding tank for the water. Because the fuel cell is smaller than an engine and hydrogen can be compressed, we would have much more space for an item like that. Good job dad! Personally, I would like to see the effects of water displacement, because the desert is boring and drought is painful!

Twilight… Yes I read it.
Okay, I know it is a little weird for a guy to write Twilight, but I do anyway. I started reading it because I was curious about all of the talk about it. I needed to know for myself. I don’t see why people, more specifically boys, think twilight is just for girls. There are girl vampires too!
Okay enough of that. So I just bought Eclipse and I’m a sixth of the way in, so if you give any spoilers in the comments I will kill you! Anyway, so far, I’m rooting for Edward, and I hate Jacob. I know it’s strange for someone like me to put my two cents into this, but either way, I’m entitle to an opinion.
I do not see how anyone could like Jacob, he isn’t polite and his personality is never consistent. Edward on the other hand acts the same toward all people unless there is a justified reason to hate them. Edward is much better at controlling himself and he is definitely not as immature as Jacob. Jacob is just a little bipolar, perpetual fever, kid. When I’m in a relationship, Edward will be my inspiration and role-model.
Yes, Edward does keep a few secrets from Bella but it was only to protect her, and he promised not to keep anything from her again. Also, I would rather want to be a vampire and live forever with the one I love as equals rather than share a bed with a person who at anytime could turn into a giant wolf and crush by accident. At least when Bella is a vampire Edward will no longer be tempted to drain her blood vessels and they would be equally strong so he doesn’t have to be so self-conscious.
More over, the hole left by Edward is much deeper than the hole left by Jake. Obviously Bella loves Edward more. Also, if you haven’t seen the cover to Breaking Dawn, you are a slacker and need to open your eyes. As you’ll note the white piece is a queen and the red is a pawn. It can be argued that red means blood, that could mean that the queen a female piece without blood could arguably be Bella, while the red piece i the pawn and could possibly be Jacob, either way, I hope and pray that Bella will become “one of them.”

Who do I Write for?
So this question is pretty important for a writer to consider. As a matter of fact, I write to no one but myself. If you don’t like what I write than you don’t have to read it. I believe that writer’s shouldn’t have target audiences, but readers should have target books. Why should I strive to meet a specific demographic standard? Why do I need to write for a person who I probably don’t care about?
I believe that readers should have target books instead. Everyone has their own opinion about what they read, why should I try to satisfy someone’s opinion instead of them satisfying their own? Why do I have to do all the work. As a matter of fact I don’t think about my target audience as another person, because if I did I would have multiple personalities. I don’t write for anyone but myself. I’m actually really glad that people chose to read my stuff, no matter how small of an amount that is, because that means their are people in this world with the same views as me. I am not alone.
You know what I also hate? How people categorize their styles and how people are prejudice about what books someone reads. It makes perfect sense for a girl to read Twilight, but when a boy does they just get pummeled with dirty looks and rude comments. It’s just perfectly acceptable for the nerd to read Harry Potter, but when the popular girl who no one expects starts singing wizard rock they all look at her funny.
The same goes for authors. I hate explaining to people why I write what I write. It is in my mind, I put it on paper, end of story. “But I always thought you wrote fantasy.” Can’t I write a small romance once it my life? I don’t like how people are placed in a social class by what they write or think. Yes I write a little fantasy, does that make me a D&D playing fanatic? NO! Yes, I sometimes write romance, does that make me gay? OF COURSE NOT!!
Why do we have to be so prejudice and why do authors have to sensor themselves for others?
(In case you were wondering, I got the idea for this post from Jake Miller in his post: here
Here’s where I talk about being lonely
And where I discuss more on Twilight

Am I Overloaded?
Okay, big question for you all: Am I overloaded? It’s not even been a week since school was released and I already have THREE big projects to do. One: Read 15 books, two: write >50 blog entries, and now three: Learn to play the piano moderately well, and so far, I’m not doing so well. For instance, I have one maybe two camping trips in this month and then the summer is almost half over. This will be my 14th entry so far, so I’m doing pretty well with that: 14 out of 50 is 28%. Actually there are 84 days of vacation and in the past 6 I’ve written 14 entries, so at this rate I should have actually have around 190 entries!
I’m not worried about that, but right now it’s 12:55 a.m. and I’m only 100-ish pages into Eclipse, my first book. I don’t even have a formal list! Ah! I have to remain positive though. It doesn’t seem like I’ll have 500 page views in one day this summer at the rate I am going, but that Twilight post really upped my numbers. Maybe if I have a TON of posts and hundreds of tags I can be found easier. Normally that’s not necessarily a good thing, but for my purposes it is. I know I’m a nerd… FIGHTER!! Go nerd-fighters!
I REALLY want to learn the piano, not only is it in my mind the most logical instrument of all, but I have a keyboard so I could easily record music with it. For the longest time I have been obsessed, but not enough to have that kind of motivation.
I call myself “an anytime of the day person.” You know how people say they are either a morning-person, or a night-owl. I can be described as both in a way. If I can get up, within five minutes I have the same amount of energy that early as I do late at night. I’m not hyper I’m just consistent. The unfortunate fact is that I am incredibly difficult to wake up! I have to get up some motivation to wake up, because I feel that when I sleep until eleven thirty (*cough* everyday *cough*) I feel like the day has been wasted!
I commit to waking up at 8:00 tomorrow and starting the day fresh! (Even if that means walking around in the chilling morning air).

Bookstores
So I was recently browsing my tags and I stumbled upon this article, and I got to thinking yeah we need bookstores. At first you think, bookstores are that different than libraries or the internet. They both have books. I would like to argue that I love bookstores because they are nice and quiet, much like libraries, but libraries are old and stuffy. I like buying books in person because you can read any part of the book you want before purchase, unlike online you’d be lucky to get a “Look Inside” option and it only shows the first ten pages.
Speaking of books, I just love books. That’s why I’m going to read a total of fifteen books over the summer from ten that I haven’t read before and five that I have. That’s why I need your help! Send me your book lists. I don’t care what genre it is, if you love it tell me about it!
The books that I love go from Harry Potter to Twilight to all kinds of others. Have you ever heard of Ender’s Game? Good, isn’t it amazing! I love the idea how even kids could influence the world from well… blogs! I’m not saying that’s change the world, but think about it, there are some blogs out there that are famous. It’s incredible how anyone these days, if you have a computer and an internet connection you can have a voice in world matters.

“Bring out ya dead!”
I love that movie. If you haven’t seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail… OPEN YOUR EYES TO YOUR DEPRIVATION! You need to go out an buy it, ore rent it or something, you just need to watch it or die, you need to o off and watch it.
“We’re all are, we are the Britons!” If you haven’t guessed, I am watching that now and if I randomly right down a random line every few moments, please don’t mind. Anyway, I don’t know why I randomly decided to watch Monty Python, maybe it was because it’s an awesome movie, maybe it’s because it was one on a list of other movies to choose from at the party I’m at and I was in charge of selecting the movie.
“None shall pass! . . . Then you shall die! . . . I move for no man!” You seriously need to watch this movie. Normally I don’t write with distractions in front of me, but I can make an exception for this. “Come on yo pansy!” If you can guess where the quotes are from in the movie, I’ll dedicate my next post to you! If you can do at least five. If you can name all of them I’ll dedicate all of my next posts for the month after you. (“I’ll bite your legs off!!”)
I am probably going to regret saying that. “She turned me into a newt… I got better.” “She’s a witch, she’s a witch burn her!!” Why did people have to be so stupid and dirty in the middle ages. It makes so little sense how for thousands of years man survived by candle light then in almost instantly we became technologically advance.
“And the aptly named: Sir not-appearing-in-this-film.”
I am so bored! I can’t stand it! I wish i something more to talk about other than Monty Python. I guess I could say that I’m listening to Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down. I am so bored! Argh! “Ni!” “How do you know so much about swallows?”

Crazy Drawing Girls
So I know these girls, Karen and Courtney, and they are incredibly crazy-awesome! Karen especially! So Karen sat behind me in math this past semester and, oh my gosh, if I had a day to watch what goes on in someone’s mind, I would pick hers. She is crazy!
After our final she drew all period. She is always drawing actually, and what she draws is both talented and weird. We were playing the line game (one person draws a line then the other makes a picture from it) and everything she came up with was random and awesome. She drew a toilet with a sock puppet coming out of it, and the best part, the toilet was also a rocket! Yeah, that’s Karen.
Courtney, oh she’s just amazing! Both their styles are more rock slash punk slash slightly emo. She usually draws collages, but for a short time she was drawing cereal box characters! Oh my goodness, they are just something you had to see! If I can get a hand on it, I’ll post some of their work! It’s amazing.

Talking to a Brick Wall
Do you know what it fells like to talk to a brick wall? Yeah. Not that fun. In fact it kind of sucks. Unless you are crazy weird person or just trying to be funny, seeing how I am neither of those (okay well I am funny most of the time, but that’s not the point), I kind of find talking to a brick wall rather unenjoyable. Don’t you?
Anyway, what I am getting at is that sometimes, well actually much of the time I feel like I’m talking to brick wall. It’s not that other people aren’t interesting, it’s just that I am so full of energy and enthusiasm of a different kind it just feels like either I can’t relate to people or they can’t relate to me. I feel lonely in my enthusiasm. If only we could communicate in a language of pure emotion, not like this whole sounds representing emotion. I want people to feel the same way as I do.
I wish I could just plug my mind into someone else’s, because this language of English is just far to limiting to communicate what I want. I just hate it when people say, “Yeah, I see where you are coming from…” No, you don’t, because if you did, than you would be cheering in anticipation to tell someone else. That’s why I’m taking up music.
I just love music! Who doesn’t?! If you don’t you are either deaf, and I’m sorry for that, but if you don’t like it you are just plain psycho! Get out there and start listening to something! Anyway, I am taking up music because it is that most powerful form of communication I know and I need as much power to convey my thoughts as possible otherwise I might explode from people misunderstanding me.
Why was I gifted and cursed with such enthusiasm?

Mind Vomit… In Multiple Flavors!
June 9, 2008 at 10:55 pm (Apple, Commentary, Me, Rants, Stephenie Meyer, The Host, Twilight) (apple inc, Bella Swan, Breaking Dawn, creative commons, eclipse, Edward Cullen, feedback, Fiction, iphone, Jacob Black, Jared Howe, keynote, mac, macworld, Melanie Stryder, meyer, nanowrimo, New Moon, os 10.6, os x, short story, stephanie meyer, the host, Twilight, Wanderer, wwdc)
So I am too lazy to finish writing a story today, because… I have been finishing Eclipse! And I must tell you, it is one of the best books I have read so far. I am currently on the host: a novel, and I must say it is rather interestingly… different than the Twilight saga. If you haven’t guessed, the first flavor of todays mind vomit is Meyer-Flavored! Woo!
Okay, so maybe I’m a little too excited, but I don’t care. I can’t believe how animated I get when I’m reading a book. For instance: when a character is expressing emotion, I have to consciously make sure that I am not making facial expressions that match their feelings. (ex. So and so exclaims excitedly, “Blah blah!” and I make a big smile and maybe nod my head). That why I like to read in private so I can make all of those fascinating expressions.
Anyway, back to Eclipse. I had a couple people mention something about how it is interesting how I read it as a guy, and honestly, I don’t understand why people are so prejudice. Take my mother for example. She read twilight and I asked her if I should read it, because I was curious, and she said, “You don’t want to read it, it’s a romance and it’s geared toward eighth grade girls.” Unfortunately for her, I love twilight. I guess I must be an eighth grade girl. She is always trying to influence what I read. She doesn’t see that I can make my own responsible judgments and I can like what I like.
Honestly, I think more guys should read romances, first off it will make me less alone, and secondly it will make them more aware of the female gender. I know it’s kind of weird, but the character I relate to most is Edward. I can always see his side of the argument even before he explains himself, and Jacob is my enemy that I will tolerate. Jacob is just a jerk, I can’t stand him! Ugh! Then I can also relate to Bella but not as deeply as Edward. Besides, Bella’s logic just completely boggles my mind! How can she not see or even mention that she acknowledges EVERYTHING HAPPENS BECAUSE OF HER!!
I just don’t get it, for the whole book, the werewolves and vampires lives revolve completely around her and Bella doesn’t even see it. It would have been much more satisfying if there was a little mention of how deeply Bella is pulling the puppet strings. I don’t know, maybe there was, but it was some kind of feminine read between the lines kind of thing.
I should discuss New Moon now. Why did she have to write it. I couldn’t relate to that book at all! I guess you can assume the reason, NO EDWARD! It was just a painful bridge between the plots of Edward. And on top of that, I couldn’t even relate to Bella; I’ve never felt such extreme emotion, and besides I get over things quickly.
The Host, oh my goodness, I’m only thrity-ish pages in, and it is fantastic. The aliens are so intriguing and in a way I already relate to both Wanderer and Melanie, but I don’t think I’ve completely discovered the reason why. I think it’s just the confusion, and Melanie’s apparent need to communicate and get out that frustrates her. I don’t know, I just started, don’t prove me wrong please!
Flavor Two: Fiction Flavored (So this is just an illusion?!)
Okay, that was weird. I need to talk about my stories here. If you haven’t noticed the little Creative Commons Licenses, open your eyes! If you have, good job, you probably want to know that it means that all of my posts are protected, and you are allowed to QUOTE them and CREDIT ME! That includes my stories.
On a lighter note, I want feed back on my work! I need to have even partially detailed criticism. Give me your opinion! I don’t want to beg but I will if I have to! Also, if you like a story tell me if you want more of it. Some of them were a one time thing, but 98% of open ended and believe me I want to explore them just as much as you do. Until then I will continue with new ideas, because that’s progress.
Another important question, do you want poetry?! If you do tell me cause it’s coming!
While it’s in my mind I guess I need to throw it out (or up?), I just love November! I am completely obsessed! If you don’t know what’s special about that month, go to nanowrimo.org and check it out. I know it is a long ways away, but I rock at it! If you have any ideas for this year, tell me! I want to start planning!
Flavor Three: Apple
Okay, here is another obsession, I’m just obsessing aren’t I? It’s called Apple Inc! Ah! So today, the ninth, was WWDC, and no it’s not a pro wrestling match! It stands for World Wide Developer’s Conference. Normally I don’t care for the June Conference because it’s for developers, but I just have to watch the Keynote, it’s always fascinating to see what Apple brings out next.
Now listen to this: iPhone 3G, 8GB for $199! Okay, so it’s two hundred dollars, but they are also expanding carriers, and AT&T sucks! I want and iPhone so badly and my AT&T coverage is about to expire! Woohoo! Too bad I just recently got a MacBook and a printer, I guess it’s too early to ask. Dang!
Anyway, I was watching the 1hr 45min long Keynote just now and it was really boring. Trust Apple to beat around the bush! Okay I know it’s unhealthy but Apple is to me what football is to Texans! (Okay, that was prejudice, sorry). Anyway, at the beginning of the presentation, CEO Jobs said something about the next Mac OS and I got soo excited, he said it would be at the end, I just didn’t know if it was at the end of the conference or the Keynote. Guess what! It’s at the end of the conference! Aah! I guess I won’t know ‘till Friday.
Anyway, disregarding all flavors of mind vomit: I do need your feedback! Please discuss!
